The field of cybersecurity contains numerous types of work roles including forensics analysis, ethical hacking, penetration testing, incident response, and many more. The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) provides a framework for mapping work roles to tasks, skills, knowledge, and abilities. However, as Drexel students, have you ever wondered why you are taking this computing class and how this is going to help you in your career?
A NICE cybersecurity curriculum mapping tool is needed for this specific purpose. It provides students a way to determine which cybersecurity roles have prepared for students. It also provides Drexel students knowledge on what classes to take to prepare for a certain role in cybersecurity. CySecTools is a mapping tool that provides the function of mapping Drexel classes and their curriculums to different NICE knowledge IDs and role IDs.
CySecTools cybersecurity curriculum mapping tool involves data modeling, semantic web technologies that include ontologies and semantic queries. Not only does tool be utilized at Drexel but it can be utilized by different universities to map university curriculum to cybersecurity roles in the NICE framework.
