The pandemic is reshaping the way boards and companies
approach many aspects of business. A key
piece to the puzzle is ensuring a company has the talent in place to adapt with
agility to the inevitable changes brought on by the crisis. As the crisis
evolves and business is disrupted, boards will see which executive leaders rise
to meet new challenges and inspire confidence – and which do not. Recent
research indicates nearly 50% of business performance is determined by the
mindsets and behaviors of leaders and employees. There is an opportunity to see
what this crisis reveals about the management team and ask, “is our current
leadership team and CEO able to navigate this crisis to see it through and
prepare the company for changes on the other side?” During this, or any crisis,
boards face the unique opportunity to sharpen their understanding of who the
company’s leaders truly are.
